Bio
It’s been a long musical journey for guitarist, Sir Wiggz.
And all that’s flashy, certainly isn’t gold.
2005 marked Sir Wiggz’ introduction into the touring world. Not even old enough to legally be in the establishments he was performing in, Wiggz had his first taste of life on the road and has been touring, nationally and internationally, every year since - Julian Marley, The Wailers, Jesse Royal, Ky-mani Marley, Luciano, Marcia Griffiths, Wayne Wonder
However, the genesis of Wiggz’ career began at the innocent age of 7 years old - his first paid gig as a musician. Sure it was only $80, calculate inflation and that’s $160 today.
NOT TOO BAD FOR PLAYING A BASS LINE FOR A FEW 3 MINUTE SONGS…
Music was a natural and instinctual pathway for Sir Wiggz, having being surrounded quite literally by musicians his entire life. His father was a working musician, songwriter and producer – having worked professionally in Jamaica as part of the pre eminent band Fab 5, before going on to write songs for Rita Marley and later co-produce and mentor the beginnings of The Melody Makers.
While his father’s influence helped to lay a foundation for Sir Wiggz to build off of, perhaps the greatest encouragement Wiggz ever received from his late father was 8 simple words: “I want you to be better than me.”
It hasn’t been a linear path for Sir Wiggz.
Sure, he’s toured as a “Professional Musician” for 18 years. Played on stages on every continent (except for Antarctica – still working on that, stay tuned). Performed in front of 750,000 people at Poland’s Woodstock Festival in 2014 during a consecutive six year season of touring Europe every Summer. Gathered many frequent flier miles, passed out in many a tour bus bunk.
BUT ALL THAT’S FLASHY, ISN’T GOLD and Sir Wiggz feels that, only now, is he actually doing what he wants to do as a musician.
